Debt and credit

Debt and credit data are monthly and quarterly data on credit and debt volumes in the economy by various breakdowns—lenders, borrowers, and instruments.  Most of the data are end-or-period balances.  The main borrowers in the economy are the nonfinancial business sector, households, the government, and local authorities.  The main lenders are the financial sector (banks, credit card companies, institutional investors), nonresidents, the government, households, and others.  The instruments through which debt can be issued or credit taken are bonds and loans.
