Israel’s International Investment Position (IIP)

Israel’s International Investment Position (IIP) outlines the composition of Israel’s financial assets and liabilities vis-à-vis the rest of the world.  The data are calculated using an international method, and show the balance of the economy’s assets vis-à-vis abroad and the balance of its liabilities to abroad at two points in time—generally the beginning and end of a quarter—and the changes in these balances during the period between them.  The changes in the balances include net transactions, prices changes, exchange rate differentials, and other adjustments.

The data are divided into three main investment categories: direct investments (of parties at interest), investments in the tradable securities portfolio, and other investments.  Each investment category is divided by type of instrument: capital instruments and debt instruments.

Transaction data and how they are sorted, reflecting the cumulative amount of transactions between the Israeli economy and abroad, reflect transactions in the financial account of the economy’s balance of payments.
