§  In the second quarter of 2020, in view of some recovery in financial markets, the balance of the public’s financial assets portfolio increased by about NIS 203 billion (5.3 percent) to about NIS 4.03 trillion at quarter end, after a decline of approximately NIS 255 billion (6.3 percent) in the first quarter of the year.

§  During the quarter, the public’s holdings increased in all components of the portfolio.  In particular, there was a notable increase in the balance of investments abroad, as a result of price increases in equity markets abroad.

§  As a result of developments during the quarter, there were increases in the share of foreign assets and in the share of foreign-currency assets out of the total portfolio.

§  The balance of the asset portfolio managed by institutional investors increased in the second quarter by approximately NIS 108 billion (6.1 percent), to about NIS 1.88 trillion.

§  Institutional investors’ rate of exposure to foreign assets, as well as their exposure to foreign currency, increased by about 2.4 percentage points.

§  The value of the asset portfolio managed by mutual funds in Israel increased by about NIS 20.5 billion (7.6 percent) in the second quarter of 2020.
