The Governor of the Bank of Israel, the Bank’s management and its employees express their condolences upon the passing of the ninth President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres.
Governor of the Bank of Israel Dr. Karnit Flug said, “Among the many achievements of Shimon Peres and his great contribution to the strengthening and fortification of the State of Israel throughout its history and his drive for peace, is his important role in the bolstering of the State’s economy. The economic prosperity that Israel has benefited from in recent decades would not have occurred had brave and difficult decisions not been made at the height of the economic crisis in the 1980s, when Shimon Peres served as Prime Minister and later as Minister of Finance.”
