NON-RESIDENTS
Marked increase in nonresidents’ investments in government bonds traded in Israel and in makam
 
Bonds and makam traded in Tel Aviv: In August, nonresidents invested about $1.2 billion, net, in government bonds, further to net investment of about $870 million in March-July. Nonresidents also invested about a net $560 million in makam.
There were net realizations by nonresidents of about $40 million in government bonds traded abroad.
 
Investments in Israeli shares: In August, nonresidents sold about $40 million, net, in shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE). In contrast, nonresidents invested about $100 million, net, in Israeli shares traded abroad.
 
Nonresidents' direct investment in Israel: In August, nonresidents' direct investment in Israel via the banking system totaled about $400 million, most of which was concentrated in the high technology industry.
 
 
RESIDENTS
Decline in investments by institutional investors in foreign stocks and bonds, and realizations of direct investments abroad
 
In August, Israeli residents invested about $900 million in financial investments (stocks and bonds) abroad, of which about $400 million were invested by households in stocks and bonds abroad.
 
Shares: In August, Israeli residents invested about $490 million, net, in foreign shares abroad, of which about $190 million was by households. In parallel, institutional investors invested about a net $180 million, primarily in ETFs traded abroad, and the business sector invested about $120 million, net.
 
Bonds: In August, Israeli residents invested about $400 million, net, in bonds traded abroad, of which about $210 million were by households, and about $140 million were by institutional investors.
 

Direct investment abroad: In August, Israeli residents invested about $90 million, net, in direct investments abroad. Most of the activity was concentrated in the insurance industry.
