NONRESIDENTS
Investment in government bonds and realizations of makam

Bonds and makam
: In April, nonresidents invested around $430 million, net, in government bonds, and sold around $110 million, net, in makam. Preliminary figures for May indicate net realizations of about $210 million in government bonds and net investments of about $50 million in makam

Israeli shares
: In April, nonresidents invested approximately a net $110 million in shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), following net investments of about $210 million in February–March. Preliminary figures for May indicate net investments of about $120 million in TASE-traded shares. 

Nonresidents' direct investment
: In April, nonresidents' net direct investment in Israel via domestic banks totaled about $2.3 billion, of which $2 billion was for the purchase of 20 percent of Iscar.


RESIDENTS
Sales of foreign shares by institutional investors

Shares
: In contrast to institutional investors’ trend, since May 2012, of investment in foreign shares abroad (investments of about $5.4 billion), in April 2013, institutional investors sold a net $308 million.
Total sales in April were about $30 million, as those sales were partially offset by net investment of $170 million by the business sector and about $110 million by households.

Bonds
: In April, there was little net investment by residents in tradable bonds abroad. Investments of about $50 million by the business sector and households were offset by net sales of a similar amount by institutional investors.

Direct investment abroad
: In April, residents invested a net of around $170 million in direct investment abroad, most of which was by insurance companies and provident funds.
