Investment in government bonds and makam
 
Bonds and makam traded in Tel Aviv: In August, nonresidents made net investments of about $200 million in government bonds traded in Tel Aviv, mostly unindexed short-term bonds. In parallel, nonresidents made net investments of about $260 million in makam.
 
Investments in Israeli shares: In August, nonresidents made net investments of about $30 million in shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), and about $40 million in Israeli shares traded abroad.
 
Nonresidents' direct investment in Israel: In August, nonresidents' direct investment in Israel via the banking system totaled about $640 million. Activity was concentrated in the biomed and information and communications industries.
 
 
RESIDENTS
Net investments by institutional investors, mainly in foreign shares
 
In August, Israeli residents invested about $420 million net in financial investments (stocks and bonds) abroad.
 
Shares: In August, Israeli residents invested about $360 million net in foreign shares traded abroad: institutional investors, primarily pension funds, provident funds and advanced training funds, invested about $530 million net, in ETFs traded abroad. In contrast, households made net realizations of about $140 million in foreign shares traded abroad, and the business sector made net realizations of about $30 million.
 
Bonds: In August, Israeli residents made net investments of about $60 million in bonds traded abroad—net investments of about $110 million by d institutional investors, and net realizations of about $50 million combined by households and the business sector.
 
Direct investment abroad: Israeli residents made net realizations of direct investments abroad totaling about $20 million. Most of the realizations were by companies in the real estate and high technology industries.
