Governor of the Bank of Israel Dr. Karnit Flug today notified the Prime Minister of her intention to recommend that the Government appoint Dr. Nadine Baudot-Trajtenberg as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Israel. The appointment is subject to a process of approval by the Advisory Committee on Senior Public Service Appointments (the Turkel Committee), and to the approval of the Government. As Deputy Governor, Dr. Baudot-Trajtenberg will also serve as a member of the Bank of Israel’s Monetary Committee and Supervisory Council.
 

 

Dr. Nadine Baudot-Trajtenberg earned a BSc in Economics from Universite de Montreal, an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, where her advisor was Dr. Lawrence Summers. Her areas of academic interest are public finance and macroeconomics. Dr. Baudot-Trajtenberg has a wealth of professional experience in public policy as well as in banking and finance. In the 1980s she served as an advisor to Canada’s Department of Finance, and helped in formulating tax reform there. She has lectured on macroeconomics, public economics, and Israel’s economy in several academic institutions in Israel and abroad. Since 2010 she has served as Deputy Dean at the IDC Herzliya’s School of Economics, where she also lectures. Most of her professional experience was at Bank Hapoalim. She joined Bank Hapoalim in 1987 as an economist in the economics department, and worked there in analysis and macroeconomic forecasts. She later served in several management positions in the bank’s securities and financial assets division, including Head of the Securities Research Division and Head of Advisory and Trading Services for Institutional Investors. In 2003–09, she served as Head of Investor Relations at the bank’s financial division. In addition, she participates in numerous public service activities at several institutions, and was a member of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Marketing Committee and represented the Israel Democracy Institute on the Committee for Capital Market Reforms.
