The following is a summary of developments in nonfinancial private sector debt in the third quarter of 2022:

  • The balance of business sector debt continued to increase, by about NIS 20 billion, though the pace of its quarterly increase slowed, at approximately 1.7 percent compared with 4.7 percent in the previous quarter.
  • The balance of households’ debt also continued to increase in the quarter, to approximately NIS 766 billion, though by a lower rate than in the previous quarter, at about 2.5 percent compared to 3.6 percent, against the background of a slowdown in the volume of new mortgages taken out by households from the banks.
