The Companies Survey for the fourth quarter of 2018 indicates that the business sector is growing at a solid pace. The net balance in the overall business sector increased in the fourth quarter, and remains positive, to a statistically significant degree (Figure 1 and Table 1). The net balance is positive and statistically significant in the services and manufacturing industries, and is positive and not statistically significant in the trade industry. In the services, trade, and manufacturing industries, expectations are for additional expansion in the next quarter. For the year as a whole, the Companies Survey shows that the business sector expanded in 2018 at a rate similar to the rate of expansion in the previous year.
