Bank of Israel Governor Prof. Amir Yaron has established a search committee to find candidates for the position of Supervisor of Banks, after Dr. Hedva Ber announced her intention to step down from the position on April 15, 2020, following about five years in the position.

 

The search committee will be led by the Director of the Market Department, Mr. Andrew Abir.  Members of the committee will include Bank of Israel Legal Counsel Adv. Tida Shamir, Prof. Elazar Berkovitz, lecturer in Finance and former head of the MBA program and Dean of the Arison School of Management at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, and Prof. Gavriela Shalev, former Israeli ambassador to the UN and professor emeritus of law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

 

The search committee will publish information regarding how to submit candidacy for the position, will interview candidates, and will recommend a limited number of candidates to the Governor.  The search committee and the Governor may also approach candidates who do not apply to the committee at their own initiative.

 

The Governor thanks the members of the committee for their readiness to assist in the important process of choosing the new Supervisor of Banks.​
