The Bank of Israel hosts the IMF–World Bank Constituency Meeting |

Yesterday evening saw the opening of the annual Constituency Meeting of the group of countries in the constituency through which Israel is a member in the Executive Boards of the IMF and the World Bank. |
Participants in the meeting include Mr Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Mr Age Bakker, of the Netherlands, Executive Director for the constituency in the IMF; and Mr Ruud Treffers, of the Netherlands, Executive Director for the constituency in the World Bank. Senior Israeli participants are the Minister of Finance, Mr Yuval Steinitz; the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Professor Stanley Fischer; the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Israel, Professor Zvi Eckstein; the Commissioner of the Capital Market, Insurance and Savings in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Oded Sarig; and the Supervisor of Banks, Mr Rony Hizkiyahu. Participants also include other senior officials from the IMF and the World Bank, see list below. |
After opening remarks by the Managing Director of the IMF, the Minister of Finance, and the Governor of the Bank of Israel, discussions will be held on the following issues: the most recent economic developments in Southern and Eastern Europe, bank and financial market supervision––lessons learned from the crisis, financial stability going forward, clean energy and growth, and updates on current matters from the IMF and the World Bank. The Minister of Finance will speak this evening and summarize the meeting. |
