Mr. Jen Lemierre, President of The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to visit Israel as a guest of the Bank of Israel

Mr. Jean Lemierre, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is due to arrive in Israel on Monday 5 December for a two-day visit, as a guest of the Bank of Israel. Mr. Lemierre, in his first visit to Israel as President of the EBRD, will head a group of bankers from that organization.
In the course of his visit Mr. Lemierre will meet the Governor of the Bank of Israel and the Minister of Finance. He will participate in a seminar organized by the Export and International Cooperation Institute on investment opportunities in Russia and East European countries, and will have meetings with several companies that invest in Russia and eastern Europe, and with representatives of the banks and Israel's financial sector.
The EBRD invests about € 4 billion a year in countries that were part of the communist bloc, and helps them in the transition from managed economies to market economies and in the transition to democratic, pluralistic regimes. Israel became a member of the EBRD on its establishment in 1991.
