The Banking Supervision Department at the Bank of Israel and the Israel Police place great importance on preventing the defrauding of customers through digital means. In recent years, extensive public information activities have been held as part of "Digital Fraud Awareness Week" to help the public identify common types of digital fraud and acquire tools to avoid them.
Given the importance of this issue, and to continue the information efforts and increase public awareness, another phase of "Digital Fraud Awareness Week" will take place in November 2024. This will be carried out through the activities of the Financial Education Forum led by the Banking Supervision Department at the Bank of Israel, and with the participation of the Association of Banks, the banking system, credit card companies, and in cooperation with the Israel Police.
As part of this initiative, on November 19, 2024, a campaign will be launched to raise awareness of how to deal with digital fraud, with special attention given to the "shopping month" that takes place during November, in which the volume of online purchases increases due to various consumer promotions. Additionally, online webinars will be held for the general public in Hebrew, Arabic, and Russian, providing extensive and in-depth information to help combat fraud.
The online webinars will be held on the following dates:
- November 25, 2024, at 19:00, in Hebrew
- November 26, 2024, at 19:00, in Arabic
- November 28, 2024, at 19:00, in Russian
Furthermore, the Banking Supervision Department’s annual conference, which will be held on November 27, 2024, will focus this year on the topic of fraud and will include lectures and panel discussions addressing the phenomenon of financial fraud and various relevant issues arising from dealing with this phenomenon.
