The Companies Survey continues to indicate expansion of business sector activity in the fourth quarter of 2019. The net balance in the overall business sector stabilized during the fourth quarter, but remained lower than the net balance that was typical of the previous two years (Figure 1 and Table 1). For the year as a whole, the Companies Survey shows that the business sector expanded in 2019 at a lower rate than in the previous year.
