The Supervisory Council

The Supervisory Council was established under the Bank of Israel Law, 5770-2010. The Supervisory Council has seven members: The Governor, The Deputy Governor, and five representatives of the public. One of the representatives of the public serves as chairperson of the Council.

The Supervisory Council’s functions pursuant to the Bank of Israel Law are:

  • To supervise the proper and efficient functioning of the Bank
  • To approve the Bank’s annual financial statement
  • To approve the annual budget for the Bank’s administrative operations
  • To discuss the Bank’s annual work plan
  • To appoint an accountant-auditor
  • To appoint teams to correct deficiencies
  • To discuss and decide upon recommendations of the Audit Committee
  • To appoint an Internal Auditor for the Bank
  • To approve the wage terms of Bank of Israel employees
  • To fulfill any other function assigned to it by the Law
